Weekend Opening of “Sharks” at the World Golf Hall of Fame IMAX® Theater to Feature Gavin McKinney, Film’s Director of Photography
IMAX Film Presented by Jean-Michel Cousteau Opens Jan. 15; Weekend Activities for Families
St. Augustine, Fla. (January 6, 2010) – The 2D World Golf Hall of Fame IMAX Theater will welcome the director of photography, Gavin McKinney, for the opening of its newest film, “SHARKS,” premiering Friday, Jan. 15, 2010. The weekend will kick off Friday with a VIP dinner and movie event, special presentation by McKinney and the first showing of the film, with more activities throughout the weekend. McKinney has spent over 20,000 hours filming underwater and has served as co-producer and director of photography for two underwater IMAX films in addition to “SHARKS” (“Ocean Wonderland” and “Dolphins and Whales”). His resume also includes work on five James Bond films throughout his career.
For the opening weekend of “SHARKS,” the World Golf Hall of Fame IMAX Theater will offer a VIP “Dinner and a Movie” package Friday, Jan. 15. The package will include a buffet dinner at Fairways Café, a special presentation by McKinney, entry to the premiere of the film, autographed “SHARKS” posters, an exclusive “SHARKS” viewfinder, authentic sharks’ teeth, complimentary admission to Marineland and more. Beginning at 7 p.m., McKinney will share his experiences and personal stories from the filming of “SHARKS.” He also will be available following the 7:30 p.m. debut of the film to answer audience questions, sign autographs and more. Package tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children ages four through 12 and may be purchased by calling 904-940-4010.
The following day, Saturday, Jan. 16, families can enjoy a variety of activities around the new film from noon to 4 p.m. including games, a dig for sharks’ teeth, appearances by Jacksonville Sharks arena football team players and cheerleaders, Cold Stone Creamery ice cream and an assortment of giveaways. In addition, McKinney will return for special presentations prior to the 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. showings of “SHARKS.”
