The IMAX Experience
IMAX Theaters are specifically designed to deliver the world's most immersive movie experience.
Crystal clear images combined with IMAX's powerful digital sound and customized theater geometry create "The IMAX Experience®," making audiences feel as if they are in the movie.
Crystal Clear Images
IMAX's revolutionary projection technology delivers crystal-clear images. Using the largest film frame in the motion picture industry, IMAX film is 10 times larger than Hollywood's standard 35-mm film format, and with IMAX's new Image Enhancement technology, digital images are clearer on the IMAX screen than ever before!
28,000 Watts of Sound
IMAX's powerful audio system delivers laser-aligned digital sounds. Although the IMAX screen appears to be solid, it is actually perforated with thousands of tiny holes to allow sound to pass through.
IMAX Fun Facts
- The word IMAX is short for "Image Maximum."
- Normal movie film is the size of a stamp, while the IMAX film is the size of a postcard.
- IMAX achieves its 3D picture by polarizing the light from two separate images of the same film. During projection, left and right eye images are linearly polarized. Specially designed
- IMAX glasses bring the images back into alignment by canceling out one of the two images for each eye.
Giant Screen
Forty-five hundred times larger than an average TV screen, IMAX giant screens soar up to eight stories high and have a slight curvature that extends beyond the field of geometric recognition. Because these screens fill your peripheral vision, you feel like you’re right in the action.
The World Golf Hall of Fame IMAX Theater boasts the Southeast’s biggest 3D digital IMAX screen at 70 feet wide and 52 feet tall. The theater is giant screen certified by the Giant Screen Cinema Association.
